And then we started blogging about it. We moved in in January of 2009 and in May, Picardy Project was born. We have nearly completed an amazing transformation that we are so proud of. We've gutted two bathrooms (Before & After reveals here and here)
Redesigned and remodeled a brand new kitchen (Before & After reveal here)
Hauled away TONS (literally) of concrete, dirt, sand and pavers on the way to transforming our nearly 900 square foot patio (Before & After reveal here)
Learned that we could design and build furniture when we made our family room a lot less cluttered (Before & After reveal here)
Not to mention, our house went from an ugly mint chocolate chip interpretation to a fresh and inviting exterior with landscaping that complemented our home's awesome architecture (Before & After reveal here)
And we created the best workshop any DIYer could dream of (Before & After reveal here)
And we've blogged about it all along the way, which you can read all about here.
Blogging about our renovation has also given us the opportunity to have some crazy adventures. The day after we returned home from the hospital after welcoming our daughter into the world, we were featured on the front page (!!!) of the San Francisco Chronicle's Home and Garden section (read the article here). We were sponsored by Liquid Wrench and Tinkernation to go on a cross county road trip in October of 2012 and helped out 5 other renovators on their homes (read all about that trip of a lifetime here).
In the Fall of 2012 Bobvila.com featured us as a blog star. How awesome, right? (read about our "Renovation and Romance" here). We're also regular contributors on Bobvila.com (here's our page). We've also been lucky to be profiled on other renovator's blogs, been nominated for industry awards and had many other amazing adventures.
Renovating was something we were always interested in and it has turned into something that we love. Sharing the experience with awesome readers from nearly the beginning (5 months in) has been an excellent way to get in touch with other renovators who have now become our friends, give advice, get advice and just keep it real. We have always tried to be as honest and forthright as possible. Sometimes it gets dirty, sometimes it gets ugly, but it is always rewarding.
